Simbiotiqa is a relational platform that works collaboratively and transdisciplinarily, coordinating architects, other professionals and clients in heritage intervention projects. We understand heritage in a broad sense, integrating society and the environment.

Vision

At Simbiotiqa we understand architecture as part of culture, and culture as the medium of interaction between society and the litho-biosphere through which we inhabit and experience the cosmos. Architecture is part of the culture of dwelling. A dwelling that simultaneously and specifically forms and generates the communities and ecosystem services of the place in which it is located.

We work to create resilient habitability, capable of reproducing itself indefinitely over time, reinforcing the cohesion of the communities that sustain it and improving the quality of the environmental services of which it is both consequence and guarantee.

We work for and from knowledge. For us, praxis and research are intrinsically interconnected activities that we combine in every project. We cannot intervene in what we do not know and, often, intervening helps us understand better. It is precisely through this shift in the usual sequence “analysis > diagnosis > proposal” that we generate the knowledge needed to guarantee full social and environmental integration.

Through research and practice, we aim to generate a trans-scalar relationship of mutual improvement between pre-existing conditions and new uses.

Team

Simbiotiqa’s projects emerge from dialogue and collaboration between clients and professionals from diverse disciplines who share a common perspective on architecture and territory.
